7 simple activities to boost your mood. “Do whatever you can to get happy now.”
Sometimes you need a little pick me up. Sometimes you’re in a full-blown funk. That is OK ❤️ Take a quick second to remind yourself that it is OK. Now go through the list and see if something calls out to you.
* A quick note about momentum*
Sometimes there is just too much negative momentum and you might need to nap or meditate before trying the things on this list. That is ok. Sometimes you might have days, or weeks of negative momentum and you might not be able to hop right back into pure bliss. That’s ok too. Our goal is simply to start building happy and joyful momentum in any increments we can. You can do this 🏅
Go for a Vigorous Walk and Play the My Favorite Things Game
This has the double impact of getting your blood pumping and refocusing your mind. the general idea is to find something you love everywhere you look. “I love these flowers. The color of that house is great. I love the way the wind is blowing those leaves around.” Just keep looking and appreciating what you have around you.

Embrace play
Put the phone away and go do something fun with a friend or family member. Get disconnected for a while. My favorite ways to engage with play is going to game arcades with the family, mini-golf, playing Uno, or running around with the dogs.
Work It Out
Work out or play a sport. Even 7 minutes of activity that really gets your heart rate up has proven to improve mood. Set 1 small manageable goal you can complete within about 15 minutes. Accomplishment can improve mood and help kickstart good momentum. Play some fun upbeat music that you can dance and move your body to. Try one of my favorite quick workouts here.
Wabi Sabi Method
Take a few minutes and take pictures of things that bring your joy. This really focuses you on the good things surrounding you and has the additional bonus of usually getting sucked into pet snuggles or playing outside.
Julie Andrews Method
Sing. And sing loud. Sing like you’re in the cast of Glee. Whether you do this in the shower, singing with the stereo or in the car. Wherever you feel comfortable to really belt it out. I put on a playlist and sing and dance while doing the dishes and torture my husband and pets. They usually end up joining in and we all have a good time!
Turn Downstream
I found this to be super effective when I catch my mind repeating negative moments and beginning to spiral. You just begin reaching towards what is downstream. What thoughts feel better than what you’ve been thinking? Turn in the direction of well-being, turn in the direction of ease.
Have fun my friends!
